Button up front close shirts will be your best friend for the first few weeks post surgery. These button front pjs are easy to put on when you can't pull a shirt over your head post surgery. And, on the inside they have pockets sewn in to hold your drains and make sure they don't get caught on anything (and pull!) which make them the perfect recovery wear.
mesh shower drain holder and drain belt
Even the littlest of tasks will be harder to do post surgery when you can't use your arms like you used to and you're sore. The shower drain holder is great to hold your drains for you while showering so you can focus on other things. The drain belt is also great at holding your drains so that you don't have to worry about them staying put under clothing.
jaCKSON-PRATT OR JP DRAIN KIT
This helpful kit explains what a JP drain is, (the most common drain used post mastectomy in the US), how to care for it/them, and drain and medication logs so you can keep track of your drain output as well as your medication intake during a time when your energy should be spent on healing.
NOTEBOOK
It might sound silly, but it is definitely worth it. Write encouraging notes to yourself and hide them everywhere including your suitcase for the hospital, on your night stand, in the pocket of your drain Pjs, wherever you want! As you go through recovery and find these notes, they'll help you heal. When Jen went through her surgery, these notes brought moments of unexpected catharsis as she randomly found them.
